#weekendmodelling #postit Hunt couplings... following on. I had a few Dapol, Bachmann and Hornby wagons that had the clip-socket type of base so these Close couplings seemed ideal. They were easy to fit and there was still a fair amount of play on the coupling so there was no issue with buffer lock when going round curves... and also I was pleased that they were, indeed, close coupling (I will try to upload a short clip to demonstrate this separately). Pic 2 shows the clip socket and Pic 3 shows the pivoting type... slightly greater distance between buffers). I was also concerned about how strong the magnets were so after converting 10x wagons I put them ahead of a rake of 20x t/lock wagons and my Bachmann Brush 4 was able to pull this without any separation... indeed they still held fast when I held back the wagons by hand and tried the loco at full speed (just wheelspin). One thing that was noticeable is that the converted rake move as a solid block... ie, there is no accumulation when a loco moves off (as with tension locks).
