How snippets of local history can be easily included in layouts for interest. Some members may have seen the wall adverts in one of my posts. One that I included was for F & E Butterworth Ltd. a business based in Stoke-on-Trent. The origins of my application to an end wall was an interesting discovery when an adjacent night club was knocked down revealing the painted end wall complete with the fascinating advertisement. I was able to download a photograph from the internet which was taken at an angle to the wall and much lower than the ideal eye level. Using Photoshop, I was able to manipulate the perspective distortion out of the photo and crop it to remove the surrounding visual clutter. The result was then applied to a scanned image of a Metcalfe Terraced House end wall. Finally the visibility of the advert was reduced to allow the underlying brickwork to show through. Here is a link to one of the pages of local newspaper report regarding the finding of the Butterworth wall advert. https://www.stokesentinel.co.uk/news/stoke-on-trent-news/who-were-fe-butterworth-brothers-5066225
