Fleet of 21 ton wagons This was my second project of the summer which really wasn't intended. I started collecting stock in 2012 having been out of the hobby since I was a teenager. So my passion was there but my knowledge was not!! I started to build stock thinking the models being created were real. But having bought a series of Hornby 21 ton British steel wagons; a series of EWS YGB (which were really 21 ton wagons) and NCB 20 ton wagons( which again were 21 ton wagons) I then found out that none of them were real. A YGB wagon is a seacow and those I had bought were definitely not. On closer inspection the models are exactly the same except Hornby have used some fantasy colour schemes (not sure about the NCB but cannot find them anywhere in all the research I have subsequently done. So it was conversion time and changing them into 21 ton wagons of the 1958-1980 era. I kept the NCB colour scheme since I was unsure but re-numbered them and weathered them heavily. The same could be said for the other two types but in their cases a complete respray and some different weathering techniques using multiple products. I was going to buy the Accurascale MDV models (21 ton) but decided to use what I had and because they were cheaper I was a little happier using heavier weathering without feeling bad about the cost. I suppose I could have resold them but following the examples of many other modellers it is surprising what you can do
